7.6 Earthquake shakes Eastern Philippines, epicenter at 96 km E of Sulangan

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake was felt in the entire Philippines and the rest of world on August 31, 2012 at 8:47:34 (Philippine time) or 12:47:34 UTC with the epicenter located at 96 kilometers (60 mile) east of Sulangan City (Samar Island),Philippines. According to USGS (US Geological Survey), the earthquake was caused by the reverse faulting that happened within the oceanic lithosphere of the Philippines' Sea Plate.
