Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook each had 15 points which was very unusual for that of the star-duo. They combined to shoot 13 for 40, including 4 for 14 in the fourth quarter.
The Thunder led by two after the first quarter, and neither team had a lead that extended past six points. But a 25-8 run from San Antonio made them establish a 58-44 lead into halftime.
Durant blames himself for their loss and said, "I messed up the end of the second quarter ... It was my fault. I take responsibility for that."
Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook didn't do enough Wednesday to make up for Serge Ibaka's loss, who is out with a calf injury.
Two years ago, the Spurs took a commanding 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals before losing to the Thunder in six games, and that remains a bitter memory for Duncan and his team mates.
"We will remind everybody of that situation," said Duncan. "We go into Oklahoma for that first game with the focus that we will need to win two games there."
With a return home for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday (Philippine time), it's far too early for the Thunder to start waving the white flag. League MVP Kevin Durant and guard Russel Westbrook should really take heroic efforts and make things interesting to make their finals dream alive again.
