AVG antivirus 9.0 for best security

AVG 9.0 download

AVG Technologies, formerly Grisoft has released its newest version of AVG Anti-virus and AVG Internet Security. It's latest version is the AVG anti-virus 9.0 and AVG Internet Security 9.0.

With the new AVG antivirus 9.0, users will experience its faster scanning speed, offers more safety for users who are fond of downloading music, videos and photos over the internet; and and a user-friendly interface.

Many people around the globe have switched their anti-virus software to AVG 9.0 because it's the most reliable in terms of safeguarding the user against cyber threats.

The latest version of AVG Anti-virus and Internet Security is available at the AVG's partner download center.

AVG Anti-virus 9.0 reviews:

AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 offers a number of compelling features and the right technology to keep your PC protected. As one of the best antivirus software reviewed, AVG offers a great solution that delivers advanced protection and simple use. AVG’s free version is one of the most downloaded files for computer security, but for the most benefit it’s definitely worth paying for the full version (or even upgrading to the complete AVG Internet Security).

AVG Anti-Virus Standout Features:
  • Integrated browser Surf-Shield and LinkScanner
  • Identity theft recovery unit
Scope of Protection:
AVG Anti-Virus is fully armed to protect your computer from threats from a number of angles. The software includes antivirus and antispyware protection, as well as complete online protection from harmful sites and downloads.
AVG protects from hackers, phishing scams, adware, and malware that comes through email or IM. AVG even scans outbound email to make sure you don’t accidentally pass a virus along to others. And of course the software protects from other forms of malware, including worms, Trojans, and rootkits.
One unique feature from this year’s installment from AVG is the cooperation with Identity Guard to offer identity theft protection. If your personal information is compromised, Identity Guard will help you recover and restore your identity (online and off).

Effectiveness:
AVG is a perfectly adequate antivirus solution, and is certainly effective. Their detection rates aren’t as impressive as some of the other antivirus software we reviewed, but the software is by no means ineffective. AV Comparatives awarded AVG the Advanced award in their most recent evaluation, and the software managed nearly 95% detection efficiency. The software “overprotected” multiple times, finding 8 false positives.
A recent test from the Virus Bulletin found AVG to be one of the most effective antivirus software for reactive and proactive virus scanning. In their tests AVG clearly outperformed most of the competition, earning the cumulative score of 80.6%
Needless to say, you don’t need to worry about the effectiveness of AVG Anti-Virus.

Ease of Installation:
AVG Anti-Virus is simple to install and setup, but took a bit longer than we would have liked. After the program is installed, you can pretty much sit back and let it do its business.
AVG provides a number of compelling protective measures and security features, and won’t slow you down. AVG Anti-Virus 2010 is faster than last year, and features relatively fast scanning speeds with fairly consistent performance. However, for those looking for the fastest antivirus, you should know that AVG was one of the slower security solutions tested by AV Comparatives, showing only 6.8MB/sec scanning (compared to 17MB/sec from Norton and Avast).
That said, AVG for the most part is an install-and-forget security solution if you want it to be. You shouldn’t notice any major lag or slowdown from the software, especially if you schedule the intensive scans to run while the system is otherwise idle.

Ease of Use:
AVG Anti-Virus is straightforward to use and simple to navigate. The interface (nearly identical to last year’s) is streamlined and easy to work with. A well-designed layout and graphical controls are good for beginners and experts alike. One thing that was noticeably missing from the scanning screen was a dynamic status bar (though for the most part scans will be running in the background so you won’t even care). Another element that caught us off guard was the fact that a scan in progress results in two AVG icons appearing in the system tray.

Features:
AVG’s antivirus software is full of great features to help ensure your PC protection. The virus signature database itself is dynamically improved, regularly updated with the newest signatures. Proactively, AVG Anti-Virus includes advanced heuristics to detect (and protect from) new viruses that exhibit malware-like behaviors.
Another nice feature is the game mode, which allows you to enjoy games (or movies, presentations, etc) without interruptions or pop-up announcements from AVG. Best of all, your computer is still secure.
Only a few of the current antivirus solutions include integrated internet browser link-scanning. AVG’s LinkScanner technology provides a completely new web experience (but don’t worry, it’s fairly unobtrusive, and worth the change).
The AVG toolbar includes a Yahoo! Searchbar, but the Search-Shield provides security ratings for several popular search engines (Google, Yahoo!, Bing). Basically, each result from a search has a small color-coded icon next to it that will let you know if the site is fine (green), bad (red), or should be approached with caution (orange). Hovering over the icon presents you with even more information.

Updates:
Keeping your protection up to date with AVG Anti-Virus is no problem. Regular definition updates are checked for automatically, and can be set to perform every hour (every 4 hours is the default).

Help & Support:
AVG is anxious to help users with any problems they have. In-program help is available with a user manual and links to online help. The online help center has the usual FAQ section and knowledgebase. AVG offers email support, but no phone support. More options are available by paying for Premium support.

Summary:
AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 is a great antivirus program, and one of the best. The level of protection is certainly what we’ve come to expect from AVG, and the feature set is comprehensive, providing excellent security. AVG is well-worthy of being included in our list of favorite antivirus software.

My Own Review:

I have tried many anti-virus software like NOD32, Kaspersky, Avira, and Avast. So far, AVG anti-virus stands out in terms of fighting the malware being being distributed over the internet.

I really like AVG because its update package can be downloaded in their website and you can update the AVG virus database eventhough you are not connected to the internet. Other anti-virus program do not offer this kind of update. In order to update the virus database of other anti-virus program, it is a must that you are connected over the net.

In my case, we do not have internet connection in our school where i am assigned as computer lab administrator  but i'm happy AVG has offered an offline update of their product from the update package downloaded from their website.

I have been using AVG since version 7 and now here comes the latest version AVG antivirus 9.0.

I've been formatting and scanning Personal Computers in our neighborhood and i also recommend AVG anti-virus for my client because its database can be updated offline. When i tried to use other anti-virus which cannot be updated offline, i am just protected the day or week i've installed the anti-virus but after a month especially nowadays that there is a prevalent use of flash drives, my computer has accumulated all the latest malware that has been transferred through the flash drive.

If you are an offline user of AVG anti-virus, be sure to update its database by downloading the update package once a week so that you can be assured that cyber threat will not make your computer down.
