All Filipinos should be proud of the latest recognition received by Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao as he was chosen as the 2010 Sportsman of Year in an online poll conducted by Sports360° - an Abu Dhabi sports daily.
Pacquiao also received nomination in the World Sportsman of the Year accolade at the 2011 Laureus World Sports Award.
“Pacquiao garnered 57% of the total votes and saw off a number of stiff challengers, including legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel, who came in second and third respectively,” said Sport360°’s Web Editor, Chris McHardy.
Other recognitions received by PACMAN(Pacquiao) as a sportsman are the following:
- Pacquiao - the "The Eight Wonder of the World" according to Sport360° reader Reimond De Leon after he became the first 8-division world champion in boxing history with his win over Mexican Antonio Margarito last November 2010.
- "Fighter of the Decade" - by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
- "2010 Fighter of the Year" - by an online poll Ring Magazine.
Boxing enthusiasts all over the world are following the pound-for-pound king as he is set to face former welterweight champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley on May 7, 2011.
If Pacquiao wins in his upcoming fight with Mosley, what another title will be added in his crown?
