It's a good news to all PlayStation 3 owners with existing PSN accounts because the PlayStation Network is now back into business. And part of its "welcome back" giveaways, Sony Computer Entertainment is offering free game downloads, movie rentals and more.
According to Sony's U.S. PlayStation blog, PS3 owners who were affected by the PSN outage will be able to download two free games from a pool of PS3 games that includes Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD.
PSP owners affected by the PSN shutdown also get two free games; the available titles include LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation.
Here are some bunoses for all qualified customers. They will be able to rent an unannounced selection of movies over one weekend, can receive 30 free days of PlayStation Plus membership, and will have 100 free virtual items provided in PlayStation Home.
Affected customers will enjoy the freebies offered by Sony as soon as the service are fully restored.
Background info: The PlayStation Network was shut down on April 20, after Sony discovered that it was the victim of a cyber attack that saw the personal data of 77 million of its customers stolen. Services were partially restored over the weekend for all countries excluding Japan, pending further information on its new security measures being delivered to the country's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
