Kung Fu Panda 2 Review

Kung Fu Panda 2
Kung Fu Panda 2 is a movie you must watch. All members of your family will surely love the movie. To give you some insightful insights about the movie, here are some Kung Fu Panda 2 reviews worthy to be read:

Disclaimer: I'm not the one making the review but I will give you some excerpts of the different reviews from trusted source.
In “Kung Fu Panda 2” the hero, a roly-poly panda named Po, voiced by the irrepressible Jack Black, undergoes an identity crisis. Raised by a doting, dithering, noodle-shop-owning goose, Po experiences flashbacks to a traumatic infancy, including hazy recollections of his parents that look sketched by hand, in contrast to the computer-polished, 3-D images that dominate the movie.
As Po tries to work out his issues, “Kung Fu Panda 2,” directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson from a screenplay by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, succumbs to its own crippling confusion. The first “Kung Fu Panda,” released in 2008, was a rambunctious, whimsical blend of action, jokiness and sentiment, lifted above the kiddie-cartoon mean by its shiny, playful look and Mr. Black’s endlessly adaptable charm. The movie was also a big enough hit to make it unthinkable that DreamWorks Animation, which ran poor Shrek into the ground, would let it stand alone. So the studio worked up this sequel, which accomplishes the depressingly familiar mathematical trick of being both more and less than its predecessor.

“Kung Fu is dead!” Or so the rotund hero is told in this second installment of the Kung Fu Panda series from DreamWorks Animation, which itself is not taking the threat seriously, as the company is reportedly already mapping out plans for five entries in the franchise. Nor will the box office returns for the new film inhibit such long-range thinking, as the enhancement of 3D as well as a deeper, more involved storyline mark this as a slight improvement on the 2008 original, which raked in some $633 million worldwide.

The makers of "Kung Fu Panda 2", particularly director Jennifer Yuh, have clearly gone to great effort to maintain the said spark and vibrancy of the first. With the venerable Guillermo Del Toro on board as a creative consultant and executive producer, it may come as no surprise that this first sequel effectively probes deeper into Po's emerging hero's journey and personal issues, evoking a truly fulfilling Campbellian archetype, but also remains fully viable as mainstream entertainment suitable for all ages. Yes, there is still an array of fat jokes at Po's expansive expense, and the overblown, overlong list of celebrity vocal talent is even longer this time around (just off the top of my head, the film co-stars Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogan, Jackie Chan, David Cross, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Danny McBride... the list goes on and on). And maybe Jack Black's once-novel "hardcore" shtick is sounding a bit passed its prime, but the film wins out in the end. It is a solid effort that evokes not only some good laughs and thrills, but maybe even a tear or two. Along with Po, we learn more of his mysterious early years, fleshing out a classic hero's origin that modern audiences may associate various portions of with Superman and Spider-Man, among others.

While not as epic and awesome as its predecessor, ‘Kung Fu Panda 2′ is still a pretty good sequel from DreamWorks Animation. Find out what works, what doesn’t, and if it’s worth the 3D ticket price.

However, like another big sequel being released this summer (The Hangover II) Kung Fu Panda 2 is facing a challenge in the raised expectations of its audience, and the potential staleness of its subject matter.
