One way of proving love is to offer marriage; a lifetime commitment in which two people are tied together to share lasting and enduring relationship that is fully backed by the society but in today’s situation, marriage will never become an assurance to sustain lifetime commitment and even lead to a broken vow.
The only institution that allows two people to establish lasting and enduring love is marriage. This is a vow made by man and a woman to live lifetime as husband and wife in which contract is present as evidence of their vows.
We Filipinos are being taught about the importance of marriage. It is being taught that marriage first before engaging sex; the God’s law. It is important because it is somehow following God’s commandments. “TRUE LOVE WAITS”, the common quotation that is being addressed among us. Looking back during 1960s, this was being practiced among people for they believed Christianity as conservative one. The question is… is this practiced nowadays?
Today’s generation is quite different. The new era of marriage is no longer considered necessary or even significant for a relationship. Influence from other countries may the reason of this new practice, which also brought people to have “live-in” partners. Too much intimacy among partners led to forbidden practice. They tend to forget the law of God. Even in my experience, I have my friends who were engaged in this kind of practice. They had already kids but never surrender their promises to God.
I come to think of those possible consequences in this kind of practice. The kids will be the one to suffer. They were considered as illegitimate child especially when two people had to break their vows.
Others say that marriage is not the assurance to have lasting relationship because as they observe there are many marriage couple broke-up.
Yes, very much true! Last March 2011, I have read the yahoo news that the annulment case in the Philippines increases 46% starting year 1991. This is the reason why other people do not believe the promise of marriage. Based on my observation, couple broke-up because of having no stable job in which their partners will find someone who can support their needs. Another reason is that lack of satisfaction and that is why one will be tempted easily to those people that surround them.
Even in what lenses people have to consider, even people has different perceptions about marriage, we should inculcate to our minds that the essence of marriage was knitted to each individual. This is the only thing that the two lovers could have promises in front of God that will bless them in their marriage journey. This will also give them full happiness through sharing ones love with the blessings of God. It is a great feeling to have lifetime companion especially when God blessed the couple a child. Child will bring the couple become stronger and will strengthen their relationship. Thus, marriage arranges one’s life.
