How to Kill Ants in your Bathroom?

kill ants in the bathroom
When you have ants in your house, you need to get the infestation under control quickly. While you might typically find ants in the kitchen, you can also find them in your bathroom.

To successfully kill ants, you need to find them first. There are plenty of places people overlook, places ants can be found taking refuge.

While you may want to know how to exterminate ants, you need to start by knowing how to find them.

Read this post for places you may not think to look within your bathroom, places the ants are calling home.

Sink

Your sink is the ants’ watering hole. Besides drinking from leftover water in your basin or around the edge of your sink, they will often find refuge in faulty pipes. Check under your sink. If you have a leak, fix it as soon as possible. Even the smallest accumulation of moisture will be a water source for these insects.

Should you see ants, put an ant trap under your sink, where you see the ant activity.

Trashcan

The trashcan is an ideal spot for the ants to congregate. Keep the trashcan clean, empty it often and make sure you keep it covered.

Cabinets

Ants search for moisture. Don’t put wet toothbrushes or towels in your cabinets. Check your paper lining to ensure a good seal. If there is room under it, it is the perfect place for ants to gather, feeding off the moisture.

Cracks, corners and crevices are other places ants hide. Make sure to fix any broken cabinets or drawers to limit the ants’ hiding places.

Toilet

Just as leaky pipes under the sink attract ants, so can your toilet. The smallest leak can be a perfect water source for the ants.

How to Kill Ants Successfully

Once you find all the spots ants are possibly hiding, you need to put out baits to kill ants.

When ants enter the station, they eat the bait and take it back to their nest. They pass the bait to their queen, causing the destruction of the entire colony.

The Most Effective Ant Killers

If you want to know how to exterminate ants, you need to know how to select the most effective ant killers.

When choosing ant poison, select one that:
  • Has an insecticide that will kill the queen and destroy the entire colony
  • Protects your home for up to 3 months
  • Is easy-to-use and child resistant
Where to Place your Ant Traps

Place ant traps wherever you see ant activity. Check all locations in your bathroom mentioned above. A thorough inspection will ensure a quicker, more complete extermination.

Besides putting traps where you see ants, also place traps wherever ants are finding their way inside your home.
