NBA 2013 Championship Title: Earned Not Given

NBA 2013 Champion - Miami Heat
The NBA Finals is always highly anticipated because it showcases unbelievable basketball talents. And at the end of the season, two of the best teams in NBA will face each other playing to be called the best team in the world.

This year, the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat enter the finals bringing with them pride and honor for their respective conferences and competing for one goal, to win an NBA title. But the biggest breakthrough for this year’s finals is that Lebron James is given a chance to beat the Spurs who swept his former team last 2007 and his chance to get his second ring and fulfill his promise to the entire Heat nation.

Game 1 was held in Miami but it was the San Antonio Spurs who won despite a home court disadvantage. But the Heat is a team known to have big bounce back games after losing, and they showed that in Game 2 in front of their home crowd beating the Spurs with a 19-point lead.People started to acknowledge and appreciate how these two teams are playing against each other and that two games alone warned everyone that this finals is going to be a rollercoaster battle.

The series was tied at 1-1 and three consecutive games (Games 3-5) will be held at San Antonio. Game 3 came, and the Heat was again on the losing side blown away by a 36-point lead by the Spurs with Danny Green and Gary Neal knocking down a lot of three pointers. Different speculations and criticisms were received by the Heat after that disappointing game and commending the Spurs for their tight defense and aggressive offense which made them create that big separation against the defending champions. Spurs led 2-1. But the Heat again responded more when they’re against the wall beating the San Antonio Spurs in front of their fans with a 10-point lead. Miami heat’s big three (Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh) really dominated in that game and had double digits scores especially Dwayne Wade who is really struggling due to his knee injury. The series was tied again, 2-2 and until that very moment, no one can still predict who will be crowned as champions.

Game 5 will still be played in San Antonio and that game will eventually give us hint what team will play Game 6 with a 3-2 lead trying to win the title or extend the series to force a Game 7.Lebron James said it’s time for them to win consecutive games but that didn’t happen because the Spurs won a very crucial Game 5 giving them a 3-2 lead in the finals against the Heat and one game away from their fifth championship title.

The San Antonio Spurs is known to be a team who never beat themselves and really take advantage of their strengths and their opponents’ weaknesses. They also had a clean record winning all four championship titles in their four finals’ appearances and that’s bad news for the Heat although Games 6 and 7 will be played on their home court. Miami Heat entered Game 6 trying to keep their hopes alive while the San Antonio Spurs trying to close it out. It was a very close fight until the fourth quarter when Spurs had a 13-point lead and felt like it was their moment to win another championship already. But the defending champions never gave up. They had their runs and even led the Spurs but Tim Duncan and company showed them why they have four titles and got the lead back towards the end of the fourth. Fortunately for the Heat, Ray Allen was able to make a trey which tied the game and went into overtime with the Heat winning, 103-100.

That Game 6 undoubtedly demoralized the Spurs and gave the Miami Heat the momentum heading into Game 7. It was indeed one of the best and most talked about finals’ game where the heat displayed heart and determination and a little bit of luck to extend the game and win it in the end. Now, it all comes down to a Game 7—no tomorrow for each team and the winner will be the champion.

The game was played in Miami in front with a more fired up Miami heat crowd. The Heat started strong and dictated the tempo of the game but still can’t pull away because the Spurs kept trailing. As expected, the fourth quarter became so intense but only one team will win at the end of 48 minutes and it was the defending champion, the Miami Heat showing character overcoming a 3-2 deficit and finally winning Game 7 at home to give them their third championship title.

The Heat is once again NBA Champions and they proved to all their fans and most especially to their haters why they’re the best team in the world. Lebron James on the other hand, finally won against the Spurs and again got the Finals’ MVP award making a huge statement that he’s really a changed man after that disheartening loss six years ago against the same team.

Victory becomes sweeter especially that they’ve worked hard for it and everybody had their contributions and when they look back, they will be very proud to say that they won because they fight to the last minute and to the last second, they fight!
