With petrol prices increasing weekly in every country around the world we need to seriously consider and research other alternatives. Public transport is becoming just as expensive and in many third world countries there are delays. Nothing compares to having your own car, when you can come and go whenever you want to. Not to mention the harmful effects that fuel has on our environment. Let’s consider one major alternative hitting the world, solar energy car
s.
What is solar car?
A solar energy car looks exactly like a normal car except that it has NO engine and runs on no fuel what so ever. Instead the car uses sunlight to run the car. A few years ago solar cars had a terrible design and this prohibited many people from buying the car. Now, many more people want to buy the car with all the added benefits it provides. It is not yet available to the public.
How exactly solar cars work?
Solar cars depend on sunlight to run which means that it makes use of photovoltaic technology to convert the light into electricity to run the car. The electricity then runs the motor within the car. When the car is not running, you can charge a battery pack. This battery pack will also be helpful in winter conditions. This battery is actually the same battery that runs cell phones and laptops. It will take an overnight charge to full charge the battery. The battery will store any excess power so that it can be used in low light conditions and at night.
Will solar cars work for the public?
Instead of purchasing fuel you would have to buy a solar battery once off. They are available in a variety of prices, the more expensive the battery the more effective and efficient it will be. Currently, design is in progress all over the world. At this moment in time the solar cars available are not produced for the comfort of the driver. Comfort is often put on a backseat because of power necessities. Another huge problem is how they plan to run the car during winter months, when there is very little sun. Solar cars at this time can only be used for short periods of time and not for long distance.
What will the price be for solar cars?
As mentioned above, solar cars are still in the development stage and therefore not for sale to the public yet. There will be many benefits to owning the car and the price is expected to cost the same general price as traditional fuel run cars. Another big bonus is the fact that you no longer have to stop for gas and money will be saved in the long run. You are also doing your part to decrease global warming. There is no telling how long it will take before the car is ready to be presented to the market, but prepare yourself and encourage everyone you know to support the solar car.
