CEBU CITY, Philippines--Sen. Panfilo Lacson has returned to the Philippines at 11:45 a.m today on board Cathay Pacific Flight CX 921 at the Cebu Mactan International Airport from Hongkong. This is after the Court of Appeals ruled that its decision lifting the warrant for Lacson's arrest is final. Lacson proceeds to Manila from Cebu.
It must be remembered that Lacson left the country last January 2010, about a month before the Manila Regional Trial Court 's issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with the Dacer- Corbito murder case of 2000 wherein Lacson was being implicated. The senator denied the charges against him and blamed political persecution by the former administration as a reason for his hiding.
