It's good to hear that the Philippine government is exerting much effort to elevate the quality of education in our country. Recently, there was a press release regarding the free pre-school education for Filipino children.
With this project, millions of Filipino children were offered crash kindergarten lessons for free in preparation of their next level of education.
Our government designed the seven-week program after being found out that many students went through the first three years of primary grade school without learning to read, DepEd Kenneth Tirado told Agence France-Presse.
Another problem is high drop-out rates, with six percent of Filipino children failing to finish primary school, Tirado said.
He said there were more than two million children aged between five and six getting ready for the start of the school year in June, and all of them had been strongly encouraged to join the kindergarten programme.
He said the classes, which began this month, were being held at all public schools for free.
