If you are comfortable with your mouse and you don't need to use the Touchpad of your Laptop, you can disable the Synaptics Touchpad of your laptop by following this guide:
(Note: My laptop is Acer Aspire 4730z and my Touchpad version is Synaptics Touchpad v7.0)
1. On the right side of your Windows7 Task Bar, find the arrow(pointing upward).
2. Click it to show the icons.
3. Double Click Synaptics Pointing Device.
4. The following dialog box will appear.
5. On the upper portion, there are 6 tabs namely: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware, and Device Settings.
6. Click Device Settings, then click Disable.
BINGO! You have successfully disabled your Laptop's Touch Pad.
