PNoy owns the first iPhone 4s in the Philippines

The race to own the first iPhone 4S in the Philippines has ended on Thursday evening (December 15, 2011). Thousands of iPhone fans lined up for hours but only one can be declared as the "1st owner of iPhone 4S in the Philippines".

Is there favoritism or some sort of special arrangement? Because it came out that President Benigno "PNoy" Aquino III was declared by Globe Telecom as the first Filipino to officially own the latest iPhone.

Did PNoy also lined up together with the crowd last Thursday evening?

Nope. The iPhone 4S was given to the Philippine President under the Globe's Loyalty Program.
Globe president Ernest Cu explained that the device was not a gift intended to get Malacanang's goodwill. He said President Aquino had been a long-time Globe subscriber and the new iPhone was given to him under the company's loyalty program.
The iPhone intended for the President was delivered by billionaire Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, chair of Globe's parent firm Ayala Corp., in person in Malacanang last Wednesday. This was two days before the iPhone 4S was officially launched in the Philippines.

Globe is the first telecom company to offer the Apple iPhone in the country. The Ayala-led firm enjoyed exclusivity over the device's three versions over the last three years. This exclusivity arrangement expired this year.

Stop dreaming to be the first iPhone 4s owner in the Philippines, the President already got that title!
