The death of Mininova

Just early this morning, i came to my friend who was an avid follower of mininova. I learned from him that mininova will be dying soon. When i asked him if it is true, he showed me a site of mininova and at the top portion of the site you can read: "From now on, only Content Distribution torrents are allowed". I try to search in the web about the event happening about mininova and i've found relevant topics discussing the fate of the website. Before, mininova claimed to be "The Ultimate BitTorrent Source", but starting November 26, 2009, mininova's sharing capabilities will now become limited. Here's the letter coming from the mininova staff: Hi all, Today is an important day in the history of Mininova. From now on, we are limiting Mininova.org to our Content Distribution service. By doing so, we comply with the ruling of the Court of Utrecht of last August. Unfortunately the court ruling leaves us no other option than to take our platform offl

Who's to blame?...In Today's World

I really like the thought of this humor. I hope you'll like it too. How the world works lately... If a man cuts his finger off while slicing salami at work, he blames the restaurant. If you smoke three packs a day For 40 years and die of lung cancer, your family blames the tobacco company .. If your neighbour crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, he blames the bartender . If your grandchildren are Brats without manners, you blame television. If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, you blame the gun manufacturer. And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilot at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, the mother of the crazed deceased blames the airline. I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore. So, if I die while my OLD WRINKLED ASS is parked in front of this computer, I want all of you to blame Bill Gates. The World's pound-for-pound best of all time, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao,  has once again showed  his power and agility as he defeated Miguel Cotto by TKO in the last round of the fight. The referee, Kenny Bayless, stopped the game because he saw blood from raptured face of Cotto before a large crowd in MGM Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. How to install Windows XP in Acer Aspire 4730z

Acer Aspire 4730z is preloaded with Windows Vista starter. I was really annoyed by its performance because I can only open up to 3 programs simultaneously, so i decided to change the OS to Windows XP but in my attempt, i encountered " blue screen error " on the process of loading the XP drivers. Since i've already formatted the hard  drive in preparation for Windows XP installation, after i restarted the PC it says " no operating system has been found ". So i reinstalled back the Windows Vista Starter. It's quite a long time before i have solved the problem. I've encountered a site saying that the drive where the Windows Vista was pre-installed must be wiped out. Wiped out they mean is to totally erase all the information in the hard drive that formatting cannot do using software like kill_disk and dban.exe . But after i followed the instruction, the " blue screen error " on my Acer Aspire 4730z appears again. Here are the steps in solvin

Blackout: Makes my Day Boring

Today the Province of Davao Oriental experienced blackout for 12 hours, that is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.. This has an impact for me because what makes my day rolling while in the provincial jamborette is my access in the internet to update my blog and check my Farm Town. Since my laptop's battery can run only for 2 hours. I really conserved the remaining energy it has because we are going to use it for the practice in cultural presentation. My time to visit my blog and view videos in You Tube has been diminished so what i did, i just evade the warm temperature of the tent and find a place that will offer me some sort of cooling and relaxing experience, and that place was the classroom assigned to Manay National High School contingent. I just stayed there and rest. No more chats, no more videos, no music, no blogs, and no Farm Town. The scouting activities still continues and what i can clearly hear are the announcements coming from the stage of Mati Central 1. They have alternativ

Scouting Activity - Learning a Trade

"Learning a Trade" is one of the activities during the Provincial Jamborette. In this activity the boys scouts learn how to make a keyholder. With this, as the scouts go back to their respective home, they can help augment their family's income by creating keyholders. In this craft, one should be creative and patient. Making a good quality output depends upon the crafter's initiative. The boys are busy applying varnish to their output in "Learning A Trade" activity. Drying the output - keyholder. The finished product.

Blogging under the heat of the sun

While on our camping here in Mati, Davao Oriental during the Provincial Scout Jamborette, i bring with me my laptop and Globe Tattoo Broadband USB modem so that on my vacant time i can surf through the net and update my blog. For a span of week, we will be staying here in this camp site. Our camp is made mostly of tents, that in the hot afternoon, i can feel the the radiation of the sun penetrating inside our camp. To kill the time, and make my stay fruitful, i made it a point that i can publish post out of our scouting activities. I instructed my scouts to bring their webcam or mp5 so that they can take pictures on their activity. The scouts want their pictures be posted on the internet so i posted some of them. I encouraged them to take as many pictures they can because those pictures will be used in making movie out of the participation they have in this scouting. They told me also not to delete the pictures i've posted in my blog so that when they reach college, they can

Scouting is fun!

The sun shines bright this day and many activities await the scout . The different activities set for 2009 Davao Oriental Provincial Jamborette are the following: Rabat's Challenge; Moonlight Walk; Back to Basic Survival; Laro ng Lahi; Community Development; and Learn a Trade. The scouts are grouped according to the color of their activity card. This is to ensure that all activities will be done simultaneously so that all activities will be completed before November 16, 2009. Rabat's Challenge consists of the following activities: Life Slide; Stair Way to Heaven; Tunnel; Balancing; and Monkey Swing. The challenge is named after the host town's mayor. This time it was Mayor Michelle Rabat, Municipal Mayor of Mati, Davao Oriental as the host. Moonlight Walk is an activity wherein the participants are blind-folded and will undergo different challenges. While blind-folded they will experience tasks related to their different senses: taste, hearing, touch, and smell. B

BSP on parade

The opening parade of the 2009 Provincial Scout Jamborette started at Mati Central 1 ground passing through water district, then to poblacion, bay walk, ER, then back to the camp site. After the parade, one of my scouts quipped that the parade was tiresome yet an unforgettable experience.

Classroom Christmas Party Preparation

Before i will be out for a week in connection to my participation in the Provincial Scout Jamborette, i decided to meet my advisory class for a short conference about the forthcoming school Christmas party. My advisory class are freshmen students. As i gave the intro about Christmas party. Everybody were agitated and willing to share their ideas on how we are going to celebrate our party. Since we don't have any class fund intended for the celebration, we decided that everyone will share what they can share for the whole class. At that moment i call the attention of the class secretary to list down those students who volunteered to bring dishes, desserts, or softdrinks for the party. As a motivation for them to share what they have, those that can bring foods for the party will be given "plus factor". There are students who are willing to bring two or three kinds of dishes but also there are students who remain passive and did not volunteer to bring any food for the

Scouting: A Preparation for a Better Future

It's just 3 days more to go and we will depart from our station(school) to attend the Provincial Scout Jamborette to be held in Mati, Davao Oriental this November 12-17, 2009. Months had passed since i've planned it in my mind that this year i will not spearhead the participation of our school's Boy Scouts of the Philippines(BSP) troop to any scouting activity. I've found it tiresome to my part because i will do a lot of preparations for the said event. It was also discouraging because there was no enough financial support coming from the school -- it was just our initiatives on how we can accumulate funds to support the participation of the scouts and scouters to the jamborette. Last Friday, November 6, 2009, since we no longer have enough time for practice and preparation of the needed materials for the jamborette, we agreed to meet on Saturday afternoon (1:00 to 5:00) and on Sunday (from morning to afternoon). On Saturday, i decided not to go to school because i
