Scouting is fun!

The sun shines bright this day and many activities await the scout. The different activities set for 2009 Davao Oriental Provincial Jamborette are the following: Rabat's Challenge; Moonlight Walk; Back to Basic Survival; Laro ng Lahi; Community Development; and Learn a Trade.

The scouts are grouped according to the color of their activity card. This is to ensure that all activities will be done simultaneously so that all activities will be completed before November 16, 2009.

Rabat's Challenge consists of the following activities: Life Slide; Stair Way to Heaven; Tunnel; Balancing; and Monkey Swing. The challenge is named after the host town's mayor. This time it was Mayor Michelle Rabat, Municipal Mayor of Mati, Davao Oriental as the host.

Moonlight Walk is an activity wherein the participants are blind-folded and will undergo different challenges. While blind-folded they will experience tasks related to their different senses: taste, hearing, touch, and smell.

Back to Basic Survival is all about the different skills necessary for once survival in unfamiliar circumstances. The survival skills being developed in this activity are the following: basic navigation, making traps, introduction to medicinal plants, and emergency cooking.

Laro ng Lahi is an exciting activity related to our culture. Some of the games being played are familiar to us Filipinos like the Patintero and slipper race. New games are also been introduced like dry surfing and desert skating.

Community Development develops the scouts' community involvement by cleaning around assigned areas within the Municipality of Mati. This will promote the scouts' involvement in community likewise keeping the spirit of "Bayanihan" alive.

Learn a Trade will give the scout an idea of some crafts that will help them augment their income. It is just a simple livelihood activity but it will become a vital tool in building an economically-stable country.
